QAN was formed in Edmonton in the spring of 2009 in response to the
de-listing of Gender Reassignment Surgery and after the introduction of
the anti-education legislation of Bill 44.
We are an organization
created to mobilize Albertans on issues that affect the queer community
and its allies.
The Queer Allied Network and its supporters are
committed to advancing basic equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transidentified people and their allies and families while working to
eliminate homo/transphobia and discrimination based on gender identity
and sexual orientation.
